SWATT Program

Project Hope Humane Society has proudly partnered with Shawnee Correctional Center for the Shawnee Wellness Assistance Therapy Training (SWATT) Program. This program is also partnering with the University of Illinois Veterinary Medical School.

Each graduating class is selected and taken to Shawnee Correctional Center. For ninety days, the dogs will be trained for basic obedience skills, house training, and socialization. They will be taught and nurtured by offender handlers under the supervision of volunteer program trainers.

Veterans and individuals with disabilities, we are now accepting applications!
